Trust in Professions
Roy Morgan has a poll (taken in Australia) on which professions have “high” or “very high” standards of ethics and honesty. They asked about 29 professions.
Public Servants were in 15th place just ahead of us pollsters in 16th place. Four places lower are talkback radio announcers in 20th.Then MPs are in 21st and 22nd places just ahead of union leaders on 23rd. The bottom four places being to various sales persons, but the next bottom places go to newspaper journalists and TV reporters.
When journalists rank even lower than politicians for ethics and honesty, there should be some damn hard soul searching about why.
