Not in Hawaii – yet

Grrrr. Flight from Auckland is delayed by four hours due to an engineering fault which occurred as we we taking off. We had ferried into position and started down the runway and then suddenly the familiar feel of acceleration was replaced with a definite braking sensation and we stopped.

They hoped to fix it in a few minutes but then after around 20 minutes said there would be a four hour delay and maybe a new plane, so we disembarked. I became very popular with some fellow travellers as my airpoints status allows me to take six guests with me into the Air NZ Lounge.

This now means we will arrive at the hotel at around 3 am. Ouch.
