French Presidential Election Second Round
The second and final round of the French Presidential Election is this Sunday.
The opinion polls were almost spot on for the first round (which was rare for French politics) so what do they say for the second round?
There have been 17 polls since the first round. The remarkable thing is how consistent they have been. Every one has Sarkozy leading Royal. One by 2% (51% to 49%), two by 4%, three by 5%, five by 6%, two by 7%, and four by 8% (54% to 46%).
The mean, median and mode is all 53% to 47%. And that is what most polls were also saying prior to the first round.
Sarkozy has been having the rougher time in the media, but fundamentally the polls do not seem to have changed much at all over the last few months, so unless there is a major problem in the next five days, expect to see him the Eighth President of the Fifth Republic of France.
