Coddington on Hide
Deborah Coddington writes about Rodney Hide, whom she backed for Leader, and questions his strategy. I think her points are fair, and ones a lot of people have said.
With a move to the centre for National under John Key, ACT should be able to get back to around 5%. I would much prefer a National/ACT Govt to a National/Maori Party Govt.
It’s tough with only two MPs. You get stuff all questions in Parliament. You have far less resources. But for people watching from the outside, it’s hard to see what the strategy is in terms of branding and positioning.
Rodney and Heather, like myself, are market and social liberals. Parliament needs more of them. I hope they do well, but like Deborah I am puzzled that with National’s move to the centre, that ACT hasn’t better capitalised on it.
Incidentally Rodney has a photo of the two of us at the Section 59 march, pointing out I only joined the protest at Civic Square unlike his Caucus. Little squealer 🙂
