War of the Unions?

There looks to be increasing tensions between the Engineering Printing and Manufacturing Union (EPMU) and the Service and Food Workers Union (SFWU) over the Air New Zealand restructuring.

Basically EPMU is reluctantly accepting a change in conditions (mainly downwards) to prevent 1,700 job losses, while SFWU have voted against.

I suspect relations are very tense between the two unions.

If relations break down into a full-scale war, that will prove a dilemma. Who do you support? It’s like trying to pick a favourite in the Iran-Iraq war 🙂
