Telecom on Peering

This is potentially very positive. In today’s edition of The Line they report that Telecom is considering the option of local peering, or local Internet interconnection, and they support the principle that local traffic should not unnecessarily be routed outside the local area for distant handover to another network.

This topic won’t interest most people but it is an important one about keeping content hosted in NZ, and avoiding unnecessary national and international transit.
