Labour on Corrections
John Armstrong has an amusing column on Labour’s flip-flops on Corrections.
National split Corrections from Justice back in 1995. Now Dr Cullen claimed in Parliament they were not changing policy because Labour had never supported that split.
Imagine the fun when Simon Power then tabled a 1995 Hansard extract with Trevor Mallard telling Parliament that Labour would support the-then National Government’s legislation establishing Corrections a standalone entity.
And then even better when it was pointed out that in response to National proposing last month that Corrections and Justice be remerged together, Damien O’Connor attacked the proposal as an “extraordinary proposal” which had “all the hallmarks of policy being created on the hoof”.
So does O’Connor’s criticism also extend to Helen announcing the same thing?
