Clark’s announcement of an extension to the NZ military presence in Afghanistan will go down well at the meeting next week with US President Bush.

I suspect deep down Clark still holds the anti-american views of her youth when she protested against the US. But it is to her credit she puts the national interest first on issues like this, and realises it is important to have a constructive relationship with the US.
