How did that happen
Had an InternetNZ meeting in Auckland last night. Before I went in I haerd NZ were 44/4 so it looked all over, especially considering a target of 346.
Got back to the hotel at 11 pm or so and on MSN everyone is talking about the game. I am puzzled as there is no way one can recover from 44/4 and beat a target of 346. Hell we were looking to struggle to make 100.
But TV3 had highlights and indeed we did make 350 to win the game. Amazing. Some stats from Cricinfo:
* New Zealand’s total of 350 for 9 is the second-highest in a successful run-chase after South Africa’s 438 for 9 in Johannesburg.
* Craig McMillan’s 67-ball century is the fastest by a New Zealander in ODIs
* The 26 sixes blasted in this match – 16 by Australia and 10 by New Zealand – equals the record for most number of sixes in a game.
* The 165-run stand between Craig McMillan and Brendon McCullum is the joint highest for the sixth wicket in one-day internationals.
I am so loving cricket at the moment. Winning helps!
