Falling hospital efficiency
Some people have criticised me for referring to health as a blackhole where you can keep throwing money in, and get little in return. But this is not just hyperbole from me.
The Dom Post reports on an analysis which says:
Hospital efficiency plummeted during Labour’s first two terms, with almost three dollars of extra spending needed to get one dollar’s worth of extra benefit.
The analysis finds hospital efficiency fell by 7.7 per cent from 00/01 to 03/04, while between 1997 and 2000 efficiency increased by 1.1 per cent.
