Don Brash has responded to the Hager claims in his e-mail newsletter.

Its becomes more and more clear that Hager did not have access to a single insider, let alone six of them, and the book is based on the e-mails alone. One speech he quotes Brash as giving, was in fact never delivered – it was only drafted. An insider would know that.
