Excellent
It is excellent news that NZ has come first equal for non corruption in a global survey. NZ, Finaland and Iceland all got 9.6/10.
The survey was done by Transparency International.
Note that the recent election spending scandal happened after the survey was put together, and TI have condemned the validating legislation rushed through under urgency. Having said that, any impact in future will be relatively minor – it is not the same league as bribery etc.
Haiti was most corrupt scoring 1.8/10.
Interesting that of the top ten countries, seven were European, Australia and NZ were there also, so really the only non European dominated country in the top ten was Singapore. They may not be great on civil liberties but they are damn honest.
