Defending Helen

The woman who accused an officer of raping her in the Kaitaia police station in 1988 has said she never wanted the case reopened and is blaming Helen Clark for it being prosecuted against her wishes.

While I think Clark is open for criticism over the whole setting up of an kneejerk inquiry into police culture which ended up just getting in the way of Police investigations, I don’t think you can fairly criticise her for the decision made by the Police to prosecute in this case.
