Tenth birthday for MMP
Ten years ago today we had our first MMP election. My memories of the day was how unusual it was not to know who had won the same night, ACT making to Parliament by both making 5% and winning an electorate seat, and how 23% of the electorate voted for NZ First or the Alliance!
The NZ Herald gets comments from a range of people, a column by FPP campaigner Brian Nicolle and also a column by former FPP campaigner Helen Clark.
I do strongly beleive that there should be another referendum on whether we keep MMP (the public have a right to confirm their choice) but I would note vote to bring back FPP.
What would be very interesting is to have a choice between MMP and STV.
