State owned THL to buy Ihug?

The SST speculates state-owned Transmission Holdings Ltd may be about to buy the ISP Ihug.

It’s certainly a logical area to get into – Ihug’s retail operations could work well with THL’s network infrastructure.

However it has to bring into question for how long should THL remain owned by the Government? The Government is best to act as a disinterested party concerned about the national interest and regulatory framework, not as the owner of one of the commercial competitors.
