National had a nice fresh approach in the House yesterday on teh issue of Labour’s refual to pay back the $800,000.

They looked at all the other areas where people have to pay the Government back money. They include doctors, pharmacists, rest-home providers and other health-care providers.

Also hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries, and every taxpayer.

And who thinks the IRD will let you off a debt if your excuse is your auditor never told you it was wrong.

The law is the law. If the expenditure is illegal, it must be paid back. If you refuse then it is a sign you consider yourself above the law.
