Armstrong on Field

One bit I especially enjoyed from John Armstrong’s column today:

Her strategy was to somehow absolve herself of responsibility for Field by arguing that as Prime Minister she could discipline ministers but errant backbenchers were the territory of the party organisation, particularly when it came to candidate selection or – in Field’s case – de-selection.

The way Clark was talking it was if she was having an “out of body” experience and referring to someone else, rather than acknowledging she also happens to be leader of the Labour Party.

Having had some experience’s of political parties and their ruling bodies, I can safely say the chance of a ruling body taking action against an MP which is not sanctioned by the Leader is somewhere between zero and nil.
