Advice from the SST
The Sunday Star-Times had some advice for the PM yesterday. Worth reading in full,.but especially this part at the end:
The sleaze label is now starting to stick to Labour, and it is clearly rattled as a result. Nothing else explains its cack-handed and panicky response to the problem. Clark used to understand that the only way to clean off mud is by using a political fire hose. That is what she should do here. First, she and her Labour colleagues should repay the money, apologise to the taxpayers and voters and promise never to do anything similar again. Then, if the police decide not to charge Field, she should ensure that Labour expels him from the party. Without Field’s vote, her job of managing her fragile coalition would be even harder than it is now. But that is the price of honesty and accountability.
