Yeah Murray, the Steyr was the first bit of equipment chosen for its political correctness in ADF history that I know of.

All the AR/Colt variants looked too ‘American’; believe it.

Notice the Aust. SAS avoid the Steyr like the plague.

Maybe leaflet these IDF babe pics to the Hezzies to induce death due to apoplectic foaming at the mouth.

Actually Mara what you describe has shown to be a problem.

In comabt males do things to protect females that are not what they should be doing.

This happens at unit level as well as individual. an entire company will assult an enemy that is in contact with a female company when they should be staying in their holes because the girls are doing just fine.

Minimum sugeseted unit size for all female in battalion.

This is based on IDF field observations in combat.

This pretty much rules out women in combat roles in the NZ Army because right now we’re squeaking in at two battalion total.

Two sides to every story. Reading about what is happening just south of the border puts Israels war on Hezbollah into perspective. Hezbollah are deliberately targeting civilians. Israels hitting of non-combatants/civilians while targeting Hezbollah is an abhorent tragedy too, but they do HAVE to do something to stop these rocket attacks.

I’m kind of at a loss to understand why people seem to go into such a lather over pictures of women in military uniform or with firearms, apart from some sort of base schoolboy fantasy.

She is an instrument of war and her body could well end up with the same fate as the two American soldiers kidnapped [and tortured we assume]. It seems totally pointless to talk about wanting unarmed combat etc etc (not least because she would probably kick most guy’s asses).

What is most disgusting is the sexualisation of war – what the IDF and Hizbollah are doing is hardly sexy.

More to the point think that the woman has used that gun to kill people. She makes her choices and shapes her own destiny yes, but I cringe every time I see a post and accompanying slavish comments like on this one.

Physical beauty has so often been used to disguise the most foul qualities of humanity.

Let me document my disgust again – this is shite DPF. I don’t expect you to change your views any less than I expect the usual rabid right to slobber out the words ‘liberal wet leftie peacenik’ quicker than you can say phosphorous.

It is odd that glamourising the IDF, decrying the killers of the kidnapped US soldiers and virtually dismissing the thousands of civilians dead can sit together in a consistent ideology, but somehow it all seems possible in a conservative mindset.

Back to more important matters: yes I do believe it IS a camel toe.

I agree with Mellie though, It’s a bit concerning to go “Whoar!” (no offence, Phil) over instruments of death. While the above specimen does very little for me, I have to admit that a hot army lad with a gun does get me going. The sexualisation of war is the 21st Century version of the absurd glorification of the ‘honour’ of war undertaken during WWI.

History never repeats…yeah right.

Mellie, you may be at a loss to understand the attraction, but I recall seeing various US Army hotties carrying M16s (sometimes with grenade launcher attached, combined with thigh-holstered semi-automatic pistol) and it was indisputably sexy.

Fred: those dirty Hisb’allah wharfies eh? Firing missiles at Israel from the port of Beirut during their smoko and lunchbreak – how low can they go? Good job the IDF got to them before another fatal load of NZ lamb could be taken off the ships to threaten Israel’s continued existence…

You can get there Psy, just do that thinking thing slowly.
The IDF target infrastructure used to transport Hezzie rockets into Lebanon from Iran and Syria…the roads, airport, ports.
If you are a civilian working at the port you therefore may be killed if you are there when the place is attacked.
Is there something you don’t understand about this?
Is it that Israel will not cease to defend itself from the Hezzie rocket attacks by bombing the supply source because civilians may be unintentionally killed, as preferred by the left.

The IDF leaflet where possible to ensure civilians get out before the bombs arrive.
Sort of the opposite of Hezbollah.

Murray, I wasn’t really getting into the ‘sexism’ of men defending women in the armed forces etc etc – they can do what they like. As far as telling you something about me, perhaps I can add you to the list of bloggers who have assumed I’m a woman? Gender-indeterminate names are fantastic…

And of course Fred, criticise any one element of the Israel/US axis and I automatically become a Hizbollah/Iran/Castro/Stalin sympathiser. I understand how hard it is to do good argummint so I’ll put a dollar a day into an education trust for you – perhaps one day you’ll learn?

Perhaps it would be more accurate to describe the outbreak of IDF photos among the blogs around the world as complicity (whether realised or not) in a campaign to divert war opponents and encourage the supporters by appealing to the baser elements of human sexuality? Interesting that they appear mostly on conservative blogs.

guns or no guns, cute girls are just that mellie -they’re cute.

And as for the military thing, -its like those speights billboard ads they had – with the “perfect woman” stepping down from the cab of a speights truck. The contrast of feminine beauty and testosterone is what makes it interesting/compelling/sexy. Not hard to understand really.

But back to reality -the only reason women are trained in the IDF is because countries like Syria and Iran have sworn their distruction, and support terrorist organisations like Hezbollah and Hamas. _Everyone_ has to know how to defend themselves if ever attacked.

I’ve just spent the better part of today slyly ogling the builder we employed to do some work.He’s about 30,over 6 ft,has many flashing pearly whites,wears little,short shorts that show his fantastically engorged thighs (I meant muscular,calm down)Hanging low on slim hips is a leather thing festooned with tools and such.OOh..they look mysterious and dangerous.Did I mention the massive biceps? There is probably muscle where brain should be…but I don’t like to be judgemental. A couple of times he asked me to steady the ladder as he forcefully sprinted up.It might have been inconvenient for me but hey;one tries to be helpful, despite personal hardship.I reckon he could swing an Uzi as well as he does a hammer.Mellie…am I a bad person?I urgently need advice on this matter,as he is due to finish the job tomorrow.

Mara – yes indeed, it is hard trying to go for the subtle photo shot.
Perhaps get him scurrying up a ladder as you suggest the excuse for legal photographic evidence of suspected Leaky Building Syndrome.

Is he a NZ citizen? If not and he is desperate to stay in NZ and ply his building trade, I would suggest you take photos of him in various building action shots and say you will forward them on to Labour MP Phillip Field for his thoughtful consideration on the matter.

Mara, as a weedy white geek with dream of beefcakeness, I am ill-equipped to advise you of any more devious methods, however I will offer this: ask him to fetch an item of a tall shelf for you, or drop something that can be relied upon to roll behind him, prompting him to turn around and pick it up for you. I’ve never tried it myself so I would be interested to hear if you have the chance to try it out at some later point.
