Foreign Aid

Bob Geldof has labelled the level of official foreign aid as “shameful” and “pathetic”.

It’s true it is almost the lowest in the world at 0.27% against a target of 0.70% and the OECD average of 0.42%.

However I’ve always regarded private donations as the best way to assist. Personally I would rather be able to donate $500 to say the Red Cross whom I have faith in delivering, than having the Government hand over money to other Governments which then embezzle much of the aid.
