Goff vs Peters

Audrey Young has a useful article on the tensions between the Foregin Minister Phill Goff and his Associate Winston Peters.

Yes I know in theory Goff is no longer Foreign Minister but as I blogged this week he is even involved in talking to Buckingham Palace over former gifts to the royals.

The Govt uses Goff’s role as Defence Minister to allow him to still do most of the Foreign Affairs job in places such as the Solomons and East Timor. Young correctly points out that if Goff was still officially Foreign Minister and Mark Burton Defence Minister – does anyone think Burton would be first in.
