The Wairarapa Electoral Petition
Electoral Petitions are very rare, but provide the most valuable source of electoral law interpretation. Now the Police said
Yep of little application.
However looking at the petion:
You see down at the bottom that Reg Boorman’s expenses were found to include material paid for by Parliamentary Services. The Judge nowhere concerns himself with what the internal Parliamentary Service Commission rules are, he measures them solely against the Electoral Act.
This should have given Police a huge steer that the issue is not whether or not Parliament should have paid for them, but whether or not they were defined as adertisement and expenses under the Electoral Act.
