The leaker was a messenger!

Okay well the leaker was not on my short list, or I suspects anyone. He is not a political appointee or policy analyst but a messenger with the Department of PM and Cabinet.

I am amazed. The DPMC messengers handle all sorts of highly confidential papers and until today I would have said are beyond reproach. I don’t think Michael Ryan was a messenger when I was in the Beehive, but I know many of the messengers from them still work there and will be hugely disappointed to have one of their own do this.

I think the SSC are right to refer this matter to the Police also. It is a shocking breach of trust. Also very honourable for the CE of DPMC to offer his resignation. And likewise appropriate not to accept it. This was not a systems failure.
