Salient joke backfires

Good God. A joke in Salient is becoming a major diplomatic issue involving the Chinese Embassy.

Salient often does top five lists and did a “Top five species we should be wary of”, placing ‘Chinese’ between ‘penguins’ and ‘very poisonous snakes’.

This is a frivolous student mag throwaway joke, and you now have the VC, the Embassy, the SA President, the UNI PR people all involved. Some peopel really need to lighten up.

The lesson for Salient is that should have said ‘Americans’ and then no-one would complain! 🙂
