Let them eat jaffas

Michael Cullen has ruled out any tax cuts at all, despite Australia delivering $45 billion of tax cuts (and on smaller surplues per capita) and in response to whether there would be anything for the Auckland region said “A packet of Jaffas or something like that?”

It does remind me of Marie Antoinette’s famous quote “Let them eat cake” in response to being told the peasants had no bread.

So Dr Cullen’s modern day version is “Let them eat jaffas” instead of tax cuts. One can only hope for a similiar fate 🙂
