climate science has it all well covered, and it’s accepted by all the major reinsurance companies

blazeoflight, I just called the insurance company on the 0800 number. The Indian lady on the phone was very nice, but she did not seem to know anything about the weather. Though she did say it was a bit cool in Mumbai today.

I tried a couple of other insurance companies and got the same result. None of them were willing to give me a forecast for Sunday, let alone make predictions about possible global climatic changes long term.

Nice troll, you had me going there for a minute 🙂

Reid I know where you are coming from. But trying to right historical wrongs is what has made the Middle East what it is today. It is also the basis Israel was supposedly established on.

I am more concerned about real outcomes for people, rather than trying to make things ideologically pure.

Run round in circles shrieking hysterically, get hold of as many drugs as we possibly can and have sex with every single stranger just in case it’s the last time ever.

That’s my suggestion Kea and I’m very disappointed no-one appears to want to follow my lead in these areas despite me insistently asking every single person I meet, these days.

In reality of course, all that can be done is be aware of the root cause and strike the root, per Thoreau.

I’m so tired of money whores who are their ego, position and fake war/oil dollars. Mark Passio defines satanism as the worship of ego and money and he’s right. When you attempt to educate the sleeping masses on what’s going on with our economy, they look at you like you are a nothing because you don’t have their fake wealth and therefore, could not be of any use or have any knowledge like them who work for corporations just following orders, but possess no ability to think for themselves.

One such POS told me that this economy is fine and will continue to be fine. He’s 73 and still investing in the ponzi scheme stock market and not even doing put options. When I told him I would lovingly offer him a couple of trusted resources who are actually making money through this crisis, he laughed me off. I can’t wait until he loses his identity (his fake fiat) because that’s what, at least in my own country the US, it has become. If you have the fake “printing money out of thin air” fiat and use it to CONSUME so you can show what your consumerism can purchase, then that is what makes up their identity of who they are.

This nation is no longer based upon moral values and a hand shake. It’s a sick system that is screwing over the younger generations who will ultimately be the ones to pay the price for the old f**Ks who just aren’t getting it and think no big deal … $19 TRILLION Debt. They have allowed this system to bank on the future vs saving and getting back to basics. I remember when I needed 20 percent down in order to buy a home. I believe it should have been more than that, but at least I did NOT play the debt game and intuitively knew something was wrong with it.

I am ashamed of the many Americans who know that war is big money and if their precious war dollar is in jeopardy, they could care less if other countries are invaded for their resources so that they (Americans) can continue to have a cushy lifestyle by the US dollar being the major global currency (but not for much longer lol). Most of you on this page are NOT like this, and I thank you for your honor, duty and morality. – A Sheep No More

And remember this is a computer that’s telling you there are 170,000 sites all saying that, so it’s not really possible the computer has been molested, is it.

Perhaps you should look again, and this time, try a bit harder.

NZ’s highest-grossing speed camera in spot with no fatalities in eight years

Police are being accused of revenue gathering as figures show the site of New Zealand’s most-profitable speed camera has not had a serious crash in years.

The last fatal accident on Whitford Brown Ave, Porirua was in 2008. Police installed a speed camera there in 2014 and in its first year of operation it gathered more than $1 million.

Before the speed camera was installed, but since the last death, the road had already been made safer with a lowered speed limit and barriers separating oncoming traffic, crash records reveal.

But police have defended the speed camera’s position, saying they look at long-term trends and Whitford Brown Ave remains a danger spot.

A WORKER has been killed in an industrial accident at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital site.

Emergency services crews and SafeWork SA investigators were called to the scene on North Tce about 3pm on Saturday.

CFMEU state secretary Aaron Cartledge told The Advertiser a worker had died after he was crushed between a scissor lift and the head of a doorway.

“They were driving it through a doorway and the operator was driving in and there was another guy sitting in the chair it seems,” the devastated official said.

“As they’ve driven through the door it’s pinned him to the roof.

Tropical cyclones are dependent on water temperature.
The strength of a tropical cyclone is proportional to the energy (heat) it has available.
This year so far is the hottest on record for water temperatures in the pacific .

The linked article highlights a number of vested interests:

– university students want cheap textbooks;
– Australian textbook publishers (represented by the Australian Publishers Association) oppose deregulation because (so they argue) the existing parallel import restrictions provide territorial protection for the publication of many books in Australia;
– Australian textbook authors are also opposed to deregulation because (so they argue) it protects Australian authors and local content; and
– librarians (represented by the Council of University Libraries) are working with academics to find new models of digital learning.

I’m not familiar with the American concept of “open textbooks” and how that works in practice. Does anyone know?

But coming back to the main point of the article, if the National Union of ~~Socialists~~ Students thinks Australian taxpayers should subsidise university textbooks, then they need to say how much they think Australian taxpayers should contribute to the total education cost. The total education cost includes tuition fees and other costs such as textbook costs and living costs (which are provided to eligible students as student allowances). Focusing purely on tuition fees, and leaving aside other costs such as textbook costs and living costs, Australian taxpayers contribute 60% and students contribute 40%. I seem to recall that the corresponding figures for New Zealand are 75% (taxpayers) and 25% (students). And of course, to the extent that academic staff receive salaries at government-funded universities, that’s an additional impost on taxpayers.
