The 1st question time
Very interesting to see people get used to their new roles.
Goff and Key well matched. Labour did quite well with questions on confidence in various Ministers over various issues, as it allowed the questions to cover everything.
Lockwood doing very well for his first day chairing question time. Handled well an issue over whether Chris Carter can ask Anne Tolley a question relating to a statement she made before she was a Minister. Even Cullen was nodding in agreement with him at the end.
Finlayson and Hide and having great fun tripping Labour MPs, especially Chris Carter, up on asking questions. Many people don’t realise there are very strict rules over how questions can be phrased, and while former Ministers may be experts at answering them, some have forgotten how to ask them.
Nick Smith is ripping into Maryan Street over the ACC blowout. Seems a lot of porkies have been told – more goodies to come I say.
Key just did a nice bounce back to Goff. Said that since the election we have learnt Key believes more in human induced climate change than Phil Goff believes in the Electoral Finance Act! Also reminded Labour emissions under them in NZ rose faster than in the US under Bush.
