Congrats Miss English

Maria English, the 16 yar old daughter of Bill and Mary English was named top debater at the final of the New Zealand Schools’ Debating Championships, despite being only a fifth former.  Damn impressive.

Also congrats to the other finalists including Jaz Morris and Ella Edginton who if memory serves me correctly were Youth MPs for Sue Kedgeley and Trevor Mallard respectively.

I suspect being the only daughter and having five brothers has provided good incentive to Maria to hone her verbal skills!
