Dawn Service
Like the PM, I didn’t make dawn service today, but at least I planned to attend. But my good intentions of waking up before 5 am didn’t eventuate after I ended up chatting to someone well past midnight. A pity, especially as Hayley Westenra was singing.
I can’t even begin to imagine how offensive it must have been for those veterans of WWII and more recent conflicts to see some morons burning the NZ Flag during the dawn service. Even if ANZAC Day is not your thing, that is incredibly rude. It’s legal to be an offensive boor, and I have no problems with a silent protest, but to actually disrupt the service by burning the flag – well it goes beyond tacky.
The Herald has a nice roundup of pictures and events.
