ACT may go with Labour
ACT has said it would go into coalition with Labour if Labour signed up to significan tax cuts.
This is pretty sensible stance to take from ACT’s point of view. By leaving open the possibility you could go with either major party, you increase your relevance and bargaining power. The Greens are the clasic case of being impotent and taken for granted because they ruled out ever ever supporting National.
However ACT do also need to be aware that changing one’s status from definite ally to probable ally, does mean you can’t complain when National says that the only way to make sure your vote will help kick Labour out, is to vote National and not for a minor party.
