Ingratitude

Just as I blogged yesterday about the fallacy that one should always buy NZ made, that mentality is highlighted again today with Mr Errol Anderson of the NZ Trustees Association who has basically demanded that Gareth Morgan only donate to overseas charities if he earnt the money from overseas. Yes seriously. What an idiot. His exact words are:

Errol Anderson has instead suggested Mr Morgan “should take a trip around some of our suburbs” to see why most should be spread around charities in New Zealand.

“Poverty is relative to where you are living, so our point is that if he’s sending the money off-shore, I certainly hope it’s money he’s earning off shore.”

Morgan’s reply is most appropriate, being:

Mr Morgan said such an attitude was “disgusting” and Mr Anderson was a “lobbyist who needs to be dropped in the streets of Calcutta.”

Indeed.
