High powered US visit
A very impressive list of people are heading to the US to work on improving the relationship.
It is headed up bu former PMs Bolger and Moore. Phil Goff and David Cunliffe are going along, as is Don Brash, Murray McCully and Tim Groser. From the business sector you have Air New Zealand, ANZCO Foods, Fonterra, Jade Corporation, NZ Post, Solid Energy and PPCS.
Also attending are the Council of Trade Unions, Business NZ, and Chambers of Commerce.
So who is missing?
I mean isn’t there an obvious portfolio which would normally not just be attending, but maybe even leading the delegation?
Didn’t the current holder of that portfolio say his major aim was to improve NZ’s relationship with the USA? And yet he is not taking part in this bi-partisan effort.
So what good is our Foreign Minister actually doing for NZ? I mean seriously hasn’t the joke gone on far enough?
