Father now a convicted criminal

I really fail to see how any good has come out of prosecuting and convicting a father who “poked with a finger” a boy who had been bullying his daughter at school.

Yes it was wrong for him to touch another child, but he didn’t wallop him – he poked him with a finger to get his attention.

The father should have been either:

(a) just warned by the Police
(b) given diversion
(c) convicted and discharged so no criminal record

But to make this parent a convicted criminal, unable to travel to many countries, for what he did is a ludicrous over-reaction.
