China-NZ free trade agreement within two years
News that the Chinese Premier has agreed that the proposed FTA must be complete within two years is excellent news.
This will be good for consumers and exporters, and most manufacturers are already competing without tariffs or protections.
If this is signed while Clark is Prime Minister, it may be her most important legacy – and she will deserve credit and praise for it.
Hopefully Winston will still be Foreign Minister when this is settled, so we can enjoy the sight of the NZ Foreign Minister attacking our most important international agreement of the last 20 years!!
