A good day in Auckland
Has been a very nice relaxing day in Auckland. After some work this morning I had a very enjoyable, long and well-lubricated lunch with Russell Brown and David Slack of Public Address.
We plotted the normal world domination for NZ blogs, and then I did some book shopping followed by coffee at Starbucks due to Telecom’s free wireless service there. Yes when it is free (for Xtra customers) I will use them.
Now back at Aaron Bhatnagar’s house and enjoying a very fine French red wine as we warm up for a Cathedral Club dinner at the Auckland Club. The Cathedral Club put on a small private dinner every couple of months with a politician or other newsmaker. Former guests have been Jonathan Hunt, John Key, Winston Peters and Roger Kerr.
Tonight is Dr Michael Bassett, which I am greatly looking forward to – he is a superb historian, and as a fan of much of what the Fourth Labour Government did it will be great to meet and talk to him.
Naturally there will also be some wine with dinner, so considering the fact I started on the wine at midday, don’t be surprised if there are no early morning posts tomorrow 🙂
