Sunday at ICANN
There are some useful sessions tomorrow at ICANN for those interested in attending. A reminder that it is open and free to anyone – you just register in person at the Michael Fowler Centre. However unless you are interested in Internet issues it’s not a good substitute for going to the movies!
From 11 am to 1 pm there is a Public Roundtable – Welcome to ICANN designed for new ICANN meeting participants, and discusses what ICANN does, why ICANN is important to various stakeholder communities, and what the ICANN community will be doing in Wellington. I am one of the five panelists. Afterwards there is a lunch with the ICANN Board and staff.
From 2 pm to 4.30 pm is an open forum for Internet Users on new top level domains. It will discuss how to select new top level domains, hwo to internationalise it more and what the application process should be.
Also there will be a meeting of all present country code top level domain operators from 10 am to 4 pm. I’ll be at this when not at the other meetings. This is mainly focused on best practices amongst operators and unlikely to be of great interest to non ccTLD managers.
