Guyon gets it wrong

Good God, Guyon Espiner has just said on Breakfast TV that Gerry Brownlee threw someone down a flight of steps. This is near defamatory as yes Gerry was found in a private prosecution to have infringed in removing a protester from a private meeting but he *did not* throw anyone down any stairs. The protester thought he might be, but this is massively different from an actual act of doing so as Espiner just stated on TV.

Guyon was also using this to defend Helen’s team from charges of lax standards by saying this shows it is unclear what standards of behaviour there should be for a Minister. Umm Gerry was not a Minister when that incident happened. Comparing the standards for a resignation from Cabinet to the standards for whether one should leave Parliament all together is just bizarre spin.
