Dr Cullen becomes Dr Sullen

Well not quite but the NZ Herald does devotes its editorial to the fact Dr Cullen has gone from the witty happy Dr Cullen we all know and love to the old and grumpy man now nicknamed Dr Sullen by some local blogs.

Cullen at his best is simply hilarious. I’ve seen a room full of partisan Labour hating National staff in hysterics as Cullen’s wit has eviscerated a National MP. Sometimes you just can’t help laughing, even when turned on your own side.

But the NZ Herald is right that the witty Dr Cullen is seen less and less, and the grumpy Dr Cullen seen more and more.

Mind you to be fair – if I had to defend David Benson-Pope, I’d be bloody grumpy also!

UPDATE: Just had pointed out to me that the advert which appears next to the editorial is for the Herald’s TV supplement and is titled “Grumpy Old Man” with a profile of the Speaker of the House in Commander-in-Chief. Very amusing placement.
