100 MPs Bill
Looks like the bill cutting Parliament to 100 MPs will make it to select committee. That of course doen’t mean it will become law but it is right to allow the public to make submissions on it.
It looks to pass the first reading by 61 votes to 60 with National, NZ First, ACT and Maori Party in favour and Labour, Anderton, United Future and Greens against.
As I blogged in February, I don’t support the bill and may even make a submission to the select committee on it.
