Pay It Back Now

Cameron has set up a site called Pay It Back Now. A dedicated blog on the issue and will also feature an online petition.

Excellent stuff.

A very nice idea.

but there is no way labour can pay this back.

the pledge cars were signed by the PM;
therefore she authorised the spending;
therefore is presumably guilty of the corrupt practice.

it’s not the money: it’s the corruption.
labour has lost the moral right to govern

It is an important function of the opposition to keep the govt accountable, not just provide alternative ideas, both of which National has done admirably.

Would you prefer a situation where the govt was allowed to get away with such corrupt and disgraceful behaviour with taxpayer funds?

What is it with left-wingers and scandals such as the Exclusive Bretheren or national’s alleged funding by US bagmen?

Yes – its may be petty politics, but to claim that its only from one side is biased at best and hypocrisy at worst.

The point is – should we gloss-over all these issues? At what point do things like integrity actually become election issues (or “fit to govern” issues) to you? Integrity is an issue for Helen Clark – she made a big point of it during her election campaign, and was quite happy to smear national wherever she found something that could suggest a flaw in their integrity.

The Labour Party will just have to find $1.2m and pay back the money. As for the misappropriation that does become very difficult for Helen Clark. She has wriggled out of legal messes before. Come to think of it she had had more scapes with the Law than any other party leader. What is it with the Law that bugs her. Most other people respect it.

Oh really? I thought most of Nationals ideas had been nicked from ACT (who may have hand a look over the shoulder of the Libz), the very same ideas that National runs a mile from implementing once in power…sigh!

No one party has a monopoly on ideas, or owns them, just as parties do not own votes, they belong to the people who cast them.

I disagree that National would run a mile from implementing its ideas when it gains power. Don’t become one of the minority of ACT supporters who are bitter that National did well at ACT’s expense amongst others, the issue here is one of should the opposition parties, National in particular, be holding Clark and the govt to account over the election overspend with taxpayers funds?

Thus, we can see why the lefties want to sweep it all under the carpet.
The blatant lawbreaking by the Liarbour Party, the blatant lawbreaking by its leader, who is so central to it all.
Yes, their beloved sacred cow, their beloved Mother Teresa of the South Pacific.
It could well be the case that she is nothing but a corrupt power crazed harpy, ever keen to raid their public purse for her own benefit; use taxpayers money so her government can buy an election.
Treat New Zealand and its democratic processes like we are some tin-pot third world banana republic.
These are the issues we are facing and the more that comes out of the woodwork, the more Liabour and its leadership are shown to be vulnerable. The more we see their lies and corruption and attempts to change the subject, suppress the facts, etc.
Oh yes, let’s have further enquiries.
Let us see the extent of Labour’s culture of sleaze.
As the exhalted one used to say “Bring it ON!”
