Voter 2005 Survey
The Chief Electoral Office has published a survey of voter experiences for the 2005 elections. No big surprises, but worth noting:
* 92% of people cast an ordinary vote
* 91 of people voted close to home
* However only 42% voted in the same place as 2002
* 77% followed the election-night results
* Even 47% of those who didn’t vote, followed the results (bizarre!)
* Reasons for non voting are split almost equally between not caring who wins, not trusting politicians and not being interested in politics
