MPs declarations
I tend to agree with Richard Worth that the Register of MPs pecuniary interests is going somewhat overboard by insisting that any airline upgrades have to included in their declaration.
Decisions on who gets upgraded on a flight are made at a relatively junior level, and by different people each time, I understand. Plus I don’t really see an MP getting an upgrade as anything out of the ordinary – thousands of passengers get them – I have on several occassions. The register should be for stuff where someone has gopne out of their way to give a gift to an MP – in their role as an MP. Such as giving them free season tickets to the rugby, or working on their house for $1 an hour.
