A 30-year-old Nelson mother has won the Miss Kaiteriteri beauty contest.

While I think beauty contests are harmless fun (has been a long time since I’ve actually watched one), I do think it is sad they also had a Miss Junior Kaiteriteri contest for girls aged 12 to 15. It reminds me of those awful images from the US where you have mothers dressing up their eight year olds to win junior beauty contests. Yuck.
