I really wish the Government could tell the truth and say there is no realistic chance of a free trade agreement with the US in the next few years.

Labour keeps saying that there is no reason we are not even on the list of possibles, and Goff has explained away our absence from the latest announcement of FTA negotiations with South Korea, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates as being because the US desires to negotiate with larger economies.

Hmmn okay let’s look at GDP. Malaysia US$118b, UAE $104b, NZ$97b. All very clearly in the same league. Sorry Phil – better spin is needed.
