Apparently someone Abramoff knew also once lived in the same apartment building as a Democrat. Truly this is a bi-partisan scandal.

The Indian tribes were victims of Abramoff , so merely including them in as actual Abramoff payouts when they are nothing of the sort.
Notice Delay is a reciepent of money directly from Abramoff and his wife.
Of course if Abramoff merely gave money to Senators and Congressmen that would be no problem. Abramoff is in the stink because he gave other favours of the a non monetary kind, plus disguised payments to the wives and friends of politicians for actual favours as well.
When the situation unfolds and indictments are issued ( just like De lay under indictment and Libby and probably Rove as well) those charged will ALL BE REPUBLICANS!.
Just like in NZ, the only elected MP taken to court over overspending was National, the only Party likely to be charged for overspending their broadcasting funding will be National

I think anyone who actually observes American politics with both eyes open would dismiss that as self serving crap. Funny money and K Street lobbyist poison politics on both sides of the aisle. You cash a lobbyist’s cheque you’re not a “victim” of anything except your own greed.

Closer to home, Maurice, please don’t make up shit. It just makes you look more than usually stupid.

Craig the court found gross overspending in Tauranga. Then the learned judges had to come up with a way to ensure Clarkson stayed as MP, so they invented a ‘pro rata’ rule which has never mean used in election spending before and just decided on a level that made sure Clarkson came under( just) the limit.
The law is pretty clear:
“election activity, in relation to a candidate at an election in any district,
means an activity—

“(a) which is carried out by the candidate or with the candidate’s
authority; and

“(b) which comprises—

“(i) advertising of any kind; or
Advertising of any kind !!. no mention of ‘reduced in proportion”

As for National breaking the law in overspending in broadcasting advertising, are you saying Im making it up ?. Funny its only one party that is
having all these problems!

Bob Clarkson isn’t the “only MP” who has had an electoral petition brought alleging overspending. That’s flat out untrue – and I’ll leave readers to decide whether your statement was made out of pure ignorance or partisan animus.

You follow-up was even more amusing. Well, a panel of three High Court judges DIDN’T find that Clarkson was guilty of “gross over-spending” – if they had, I think we’d all be focused on the upcoming Tauranga by-election don’t you think? Now, it’s quite another thing to say you didn’t agree with their ruling – but you really shouldn’t assert something that just isn’t true.

As for your final allegation, the matter is in the hands of the Police and I think we should actually wait until a decision is made. OK? Or do you have a reliable source inside the investigation?
