Threesome of the Year
No this isn’t about some lucky bastard and the Ever-Swindell twins (sigh) but Time’s Man of the Year has gone to three people – Bill & Melinda Gates and Bono for their charitable work.
The cover story is here and you can only admire how effective Bono has been on getting the most unlikely pairings such as Susan Sarandon and Pat Robertson working together.
Also worth reading the interview with the three of them together. Melinda Gates especially comes across as very strong, and not just a “silent partner”.
One of the more interesting runner-ups was George HW Bush and Bill Clinton. Their work together for Tsunami relief was extremely sucessful, and I agree a very good sign of how we unite together when we really need to.
In the main story on them, I found it amusing when they were out at the Clinton Presidential Library and Bush sent them a message “Tell 41 and 42 that 43 is hungry.”
Time also has a joint interview with them.
