Tauranga Electoral Petition
Well the petition is over, and we await the decision. The three Justices have indicated they had a statutory obligation to deliver their judgment quickly so hopefully we will find out the result before Parliament rises for the year.
The NZ Herald and Dom Post both have stories, and both seem to suggest that the Justices needed some convincing on some of the claims by Peters. However by alleging $100,000 of spending Peters only needs to win on one or two points and that may be enough to go over the $20,000 limit.
What I have found surprising is how so much of what Peters claimed they would do, they did not. Perhaps I missed it but didn’t they claim to have some secret witness from the Labour Party? And they talked about how they would cross-examine Clarkson but never even called him.
