Commerce Commission on Broadband
The Commerce Commission has delivered a final determination and happily it appears relatively unchanged from its earlier draft, despite pending legal action from Telecom.
I blogged in November on the draft determination, and this will be a good step towards faster and cheaper broadband. It won’t take effect until around June 2006 though.
Also it is by no means the silver bullet. It will help, and is a big advance over the status quo, but still a long long way from what most other developed countries have.
It will be interesting to see if Telecom continue with their legal action against the Commission’s determination. No comment so far from them.
