Wasteful Spending

Good to see the Opposition not wasting time in exposing the ongoing waste of so much money by Government. Three examples just in today’s newspapers:

* $10,000 of health funding on rugby tickets, and how the Minister had known for six months about it.

* IRD paying almost three times its current rent in Christchurch because the landlord is politically embarrassing.

* And $750,000 of government and council funds on a conference which only 10 – 15 people paid the full fee to attend!

A $40 billion organisation is always going to be less diligent with its spending than households will be. That is why giving households some of their money back is a good thing.
