A fascinating reference in Audrey Young’s column that even if Winston wins his electoral petition against Bob Clarkson, he might not stand in any by-election.

I had been discussing that possibility with various people recently. You see I think there is a very significant possibility that Peters would not win if there was a by-election. And the humiliation of losing his seat twice would be too much to bear.

Hopefully of course the electoral petition will not succeed.
